the right care at the right time

At Kiddies Eye Care, our optical dispensers use their past experiences and ever-growing knowledge to find the most suitable choice of frames and lenses tailored to you and your family.

Most of our frame and lens packages also come with free Kiddies Eye Care protection, ensuring that not only is the frame protected, but we guard against accidental damage to lenses too.

We understand that each patient has different needs and requirements

The Right Frames for Every Face

FRAMES

With over 1,500 frames in store, our range caters from the smallest of faces for young babies to frames fit for mum and dad. It’s important that the glasses not only fit perfectly to every individual and unique person, but that the wearer loves and adores their glasses too. It is our motto to ensure that rather than hiding behind spectacles, everyone (particularly children) should feel confident and self-assured with a choice of vibrant colours and playful patterns.

At Kiddies Eye Care we take pride in showcasing Melbourne’s biggest range of kid’s glasses. From upmarket designer brands such as Catimini and Tartine et Chocolat to durable, flexible and lightweight Tomato Glasses to the well-loved Star Wars and Disney Princess frames which every child does not want to take off - we are confident that there is an extensive range of options for every unique face and personality to choose from.

We are proud to stock some of Australia’s most popular children’s eyewear labels, including Nike, Miraflex, Hello Kitty, Hugs and Kisses XO, SCEATS Kids, Lacoste and many more.

As well as style, we believe in practicality and durability – after all, glasses should not stop kids from… just being kids! Our optical dispensers are able to guide you on picking the most suitable choice of frames as it is important that frames not only look great, but they feel great too.

Ultimately, our goal is to use our past experiences and knowledge to find you glasses and lenses which tailor to your individual needs. Even if you have a difficult script, our Australian-based quality lens labs are up to the challenge to making even the bringing the most complicated prescription to life.

LENSES

At Kiddies Eye Care, we believe that the quality of the lenses is just as important as the accuracy of your prescription. It is important that the lenses you wear are clear and of excellent quality. High definition lenses facilitate greater development of nerves and will be of greater benefit to you – the quicker we can grow the nerves, the quicker the brain is able to develop 3D stereopsis.

Another way to think of it is by using camera lenses as an analogy: the photos taken on a cheap, disposable camera will not compare to the high definition of a professional photography camera.

We ensure to keep up to date with the most recent and updated lens technology in order to provide our patients with solutions that will best suit them as individuals. For those with a difficult prescription, we are also up for any challenge – no prescription is too difficult a prescription! We, in conjunction with our Australian-based quality lens labs, will find a way to bring to life the most complicated of scripts.

We offer a variety of different lenses and add-ons, which allow us to construct your lenses according to your own personal needs. Some of these lens types and add-ons include: digital lenses, antifatiugue lenses, Transition lenses, Vantage drive wear, polarised and mirrored lenses.

Shaw Lens Technology

Shaw Lenses are one of the most recent lens options for patients with lazy eye, aniseikonia, strabismus and unilateral cataracts. These lenses are able to use lens technology to convert unequal images to equal projection onto the retina. With Melbourne-made lenses calculated by a patented algorithm in Canada, we have seen amazing results among different patients from aged 3 to 84.

Blue Light Filter

With technology use on the increase among both children and adults, many individuals are suffering the impacts that blue light is having on the production of melatonin, therefore affecting their circadian patterns. Blue light filters work to prevent blue light from entering your brain, and therefore slows the prevention of melatonin production.

Step 1: Wash and dry your hands.

  • Before handling your contact lenses, wash your hands using plain soap and rinse carefully with water
  • Dry thoroughly with a non-fluffy towel.

Step 2: Prepare your contact lenses.

  • Take a lens out of the blister pack
  • Place the lens on the crease of your hand and move your little finger forwards. If it is the right way round,, the lens should curl inwards. If it is the wrong way round, the edges may flatten.

Step 3: Apply your contact lenses.

  • Lift your top eyelid holding it close to where your lashes meet your eyelid
  • Pull your bottom eyelid down
  • Look straight ahead
  • In slow-motion, gently apply the lens over the coloured part of your eye

Step 4: Check and confirm

  • After your contact lens is in place, slowly move your index finger away from your eye.
  • Holding your eyelids open, look around to remove any air bubbles
  • Slowly and gently let go of your eyelids
  • Blink gently to settle the contact lens in place.
