Lens Technology

As an independent clinic, we have the privilege of being able to pick and choose which lens laboratories we used based on the technology they offer, the quality as well as efficacy.

At Kiddies Eye Care, we believe that the quality of the lenses is just as important as the accuracy of your prescription. It is important that the lenses you wear are clear and of excellent quality. High definition lenses facilitate greater development of nerves and will be of greater benefit to you – the quicker we can grow the nerves, the quicker the brain is able to develop 3D stereopsis.

Another way to think of it is by using camera lenses as an analogy: the photos taken on a cheap, disposable camera will not compare to the high definition of a professional photography camera.

We ensure to keep up to date with the most recent and updated lens technology in order to provide our patients with solutions that will best suit them as individuals. For those with a difficult prescription, we are also up for any challenge – no prescription is too difficult a prescription! We, in conjunction with our quality lens labs, will find a way to bring to life the most complicated of scripts.

We have three lens laboratories which we frequently use, who are all excellent when it comes lens design, quality and function. Because we know that individuals, and especially children, have more visual demands now more than ever.

Proudly, one of these labs is an Australian-made and owned business, with lenses crafted very close to home - right here in Victoria. Our other two laboratories are also international experts from Europe and Asia who are also ahead of the game when it comes to cutting-edge lenses for our patients.

The Right Care At The Right Time

three month reviews are strongly encouraged after the purchase of glasses and spectacle lenses to monitor you or child’s progress.

Most of our lenses have a three-month warranty policy on them - so if you or your child’s prescription changes in that time or something doesn’t feel right, we’ll replace them at no charge.

Our trained optical dispensers, in conjunction with your optometrist, will take the time to discuss with you the options available based on your prescription and very own visual needs. Your lenses will be just for you - so you can see clearly, but also life can keep moving too.

 LENS ADD-ONS

We offer a variety of different lenses and add-ons, which allow us to construct your lenses according to your own personal needs. Some of these lens design types and add-ons include: digital lenses, anti-fatigue lenses, transition lenses, multifocal lenses, Vantage drive wear, polarised and mirrored lenses. We also have different coatings available such as anti-glare coating, blue light filter technology and extra clean coating.

SPECIALISED LENS TECHNOLOGY

In conjunction with the brilliant lens technicians at our laboratory, we are always sourcing the newest technologies available in the lens field. We are often one of the very first Australian clinics who offer this technology and marvel at the results. These technologies include:

Shaw Lens Technology - Shaw Lenses are one of the most effective and remarkable lens options available for patients with lazy eye, aniseikonia, strabismus and unilateral cataracts. With Melbourne-made lenses calculated by a patented algorithm in Canada according to prescription, frame choice and structural features, these lenses are able to use refractive technology to convert unequal images to equal projection onto the retina. From using Nicky’s daughter as a guinea pig for these lenses back in 2014 to the many patients we now prescribe these lenses to now, we have seen outstanding results among different patients aged from 3 to 84.

MiyoSmart Lenses - MiyoSmart Lens Technology is hot off the press as one of the most effective, clinically-proven methods of preventing myopia progression in both adults and children. We at Kiddies are honoured to be one of the very first Australian clinics accredited to provide this technology, and look forward to continuing to track the progress of our patients.

Blue Light Coating - With technology use on the increase among both children and adults, many individuals are suffering the impacts that blue light is having on the production of melatonin, therefore affecting their circadian patterns. Blue light filters work to prevent blue light from entering your brain, and therefore slows the prevention of melatonin production.
